Marcolin’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is also reflected in the development of the Data System project, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening data collection, quality, and traceability across the entire value chain. This is a key element for increasingly accurate understanding and management of the environmental impacts associated with products, materials, and processes.
Launched in 2024 and further developed in 2025, the project involved a structured mapping of bills of materials for accessories, packaging, and progressively eyewear, through the collection of detailed information on materials, weights, and certifications directly from suppliers via dedicated datasheets.
This process has enabled the update of corporate information systems with more complete and reliable data, improving the ability to analyze and model environmental impacts and creating a solid foundation to support resource reduction and optimization strategies. The extension of the project to the international supply chain, particularly to Asian suppliers, has made it possible to achieve significant coverage of product-related information, with the goal of gradually reaching full data traceability across the entire value chain.
The Data System thus represents a key enabler for integrating ecodesign principles into product development processes and for supporting Life Cycle Assessment analyses, helping guide more informed design choices and encouraging the adoption of innovative materials with lower environmental impact.
